Why Wyoming
Wyoming has a strong culture of community, trust, and collaboration, especially among food banks and hunger relief organizations.
It is also emerging as a national leader in digital asset policy and innovation, creating a unique opportunity to responsibly pilot modern fundraising and distribution approaches that can later be replicated in other states.
Food insecurity is rising while traditional fundraising is becoming harder and more expensive. Wyoming is an ideal place to test a complementary approach.
The Problem
Traditional fundraising challenges include:
- Donor fatigue and fewer large checks
- High processing and platform fees
- Slow settlement of funds
- Limited transparency for some donors
- Difficulty engaging new donor audiences including younger and digital native donors
We are not proposing to replace existing fundraising. We are proposing to add an additional optional channel.
The Opportunity
A small, low risk fundraising proof of concept that:
- Allows donors to contribute using digital dollars called stablecoins that are backed one to one by US dollars
- Enables near instant settlement of funds
- Reduces intermediary fees
- Provides clear reporting and transparency
- Keeps Food Bank of Wyoming in full control of funds
How It Will Work
- Food Bank is set up with a secure digital wallet
- NEED AID supports onboarding, training, and partner education
- Donors contribute digital dollars through a simple flow
- Funds settle directly to Food Bank
- Funds can be held, converted to dollars, or distributed onward
- Reporting and audit friendly records are available
